Alessandro Calabrese
Perseo | Solo Show
Viasaterna
is delighted to announce the opening of Perseo, solo show by Alessandro Calabrese on Monday 30th September, from 6 until 9 pm.
Starting from six categories that make up the Pictorial Genres: Historical Painting, Portrait Painting, Genres Painting or Scenes of Everyday Life, Landscape and City Painting, Animal Painting and Still Life, Calabrese conceived a research on the role of chance within the creative production process. The result is a visual tension between abstract and figurative forms, a reflection on method, in which the technique somehow becomes the meta-protagonist and matrix of the final result.
“ In the beginning was a mistake, an oversight: printing on the wrong side of a high-gloss photographic paper and then contemplating, as though from the lens of a microscope, a rapidly coagulating image as it evolved feverishly on a microscope glass slide, upside down. A mistake that would become, long after the fact, the very origin and occasion for a Pindaric flight over pictorial genres, the influence of painting and the relationship between painting and photographic representation .” Milovan Farronato and Chiara Spagnol
