Viasaterna is pleased to present Per eccesso di assenza, a solo exhibition by Camilla Gurgone, curated by Matteo Scabeni, as part of Gruppo BCC ICCrea's “Emerging Italian Futures” project, on view at ARTE BVLG.
The exhibition offers a profound and timely perspective on the role of the image in contemporary society. Through her distinctive use of thermal printing on thermal paper, the artist's works inhabit an ephemeral temporal dimension: they are born, evolve, and gradually disappear, allowing time itself to emerge as their defining variable. Her practice engages viewers through a continuous semantic and conceptual shift, translating images into words and emotions into poetry.
The works on display function as lucid windows onto the present, generating unexpected layers of meaning. From the series Process to Shape the Imaginary, which explores the boundary between dreams and reality through the use of algorithms, to Tachilalia, in which everyday receipts are transformed into poetic ceramic objects and linguistic anagrams, Gurgone invites viewers to reflect on the constant transformation of visual traces and memory.
