New Photography in the Age of Digital and Artificial Intelligence
Imaginarium is a bold and thought-provoking exploration of contemporary photography, where technology—particularly artificial intelligence—becomes a powerful creative tool. The works of Luca Baioni, Alessandro Calabrese, and Matteo Pizzolante go beyond traditional photography, deconstructing and reconstructing reality into parallel universes that challenge our perception of the world.
Each image offers a visual experience that evokes emotions and reflections, blending the real with the imaginary. In an era dominated by digital imagery, the exhibition invites us to reflect on the meaning of “looking” at an image and the role of technology in art.
Imaginarium takes us on a journey through new visual horizons, where authenticity and artificiality merge, and imagination becomes the protagonist of an ever-evolving exploration. It’s a provocation on the future of photography—constantly in motion and ready to rewrite the rules of its creation.
Alessandro Calabrese presents a new project titled Punch Line, inspired by a joke from comedian Steven Wright, who in the 1980s imagined a museum containing all the missing heads and arms of mutilated statues scattered across museums around the world.
Through artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, and digital printing, Calabrese stages a series of “reconstructions” that question the truthfulness of images and the role of the artist in the age of algorithms. In this context, authorship is reduced to the selection and orchestration of an automatic process: it is the machine that decides, reconstructs, and invents.
