Jens Risch
Rudolstadt, 1973. Lives and works in Berlin.
Born and raised in Germany, in 1992 he created the first of a series of sculptures in which he tries to nullify the subjectivity of artistic intervention, obscuring from his works any trace of formal intentionality. Since 2000, he has dedicated himself exclusively to his practice, first creating Seidenst's and then Silk Piece, a series of nodes made using different materials. Among the solo exhibitions Jens Risch: Silk Piece V, 2011 – 2012 at Bischoff Projects (Francoforte, 2014) and Jens Risch: Seidenstueck I & Seidenstueck II (Erster Teil) at Weissfrauen Diakoniekirche (Francoforte, 2007). Over the years he has taken part in major group exhibitions including Process, Performance, Presence at Kunstverein Braunschweig (Braunschweig, Germany, 2016), Realtime at the Kunstmuseum Bonn (Bonn, Germany, 2016), The Forces behind the Forms at Museen Haus Lange und Haus Esters (Krefeld, Germany, 2016), Netz at Kunsthalle zu Kiel (Kiel, Germany, 2014), Art & Textiles at Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg (Wolfsburg, Germany, 2013), , Time and Social Acceleration at CCC Strozzina (Firenze, Italy, 2010), Alle Zeit der Welt at Kunsthalle Mainz (Mainz, Germany (2008), and Family and Friends at the Brétigny Contemporary Art Centre (France, 2007).
