MIA Photo Fair 2025

Viasaterna  is pleased to present, for the 14th edition of MIA Photo Fair, a collective project showcasing the works of seven artists: Alessandro Calabrese (Trento, 1983), Teresa Giannico (1986, Bari), Guido Guidi (1941, Cesena), Camilla Gurgone (Lucca, 1997), Ramak Fazel (Abadan, 1965), Martina Ferrari (2002, Biella), Carolina Sandretto (1981, Milan).

The works on display focus on the artistic representation of hands, understood not only as a means of action, but above all as an instrument of freedom. From the playful hands portrayed in Guido Guidi's black-and-white photographs, to the gesture of architect Achille Castiglioni who, smoking, hides his mouth in the image taken by Ramak Fazel; from the vivid images in Alessandro Calabrese's genre scenes imprinted ‘by mistake’ on reverse photosensitive paper, to the fragmented bodies in Teresa Giannico's digital painting, to Camilla Gurgone's experiments, who, through the use of artificial intelligence, addresses the theme of dreams and memory. From the overlapping gloves in Carolina Sandretto's photographic work, symbols of a loving touch of the hand, to Martina Ferrari's superimpositions, reflecting on the fragile relationship between human and nature.

The works of the artists in the exhibition, with their multiplicity of approaches and techniques, offer an insight into the symbolic power of the hands and the connection between the human gesture and the world around us.
