MIA Photo Fair 2025

Viasaterna is pleased to present, for the 15th edition of MIA Photo Fair 2026, a collective dialogue among the photographic works of Guido Guidi (Italy, 1941), Gerry Johansson (Sweden, 1945), Takashi Homma (Japan, 1962), and Vanessa Winship (England, 1960). Four artists from different generations and backgrounds, united by a rigorous and contemplative gaze on landscape, the ordinary, and the traces left by human presence over time, together form a reflection on the transformation of places.

At the center of the stand, the Focus Latino offers a visual exploration of Spain through the eyes of Guido Guidi and Gerry Johansson. Johansson’s black-and-white photographs, taken in small towns in the north-central regions between 1992 and 2021, enter into dialogue with a sequence by Guidi shot in the 1980s. In these images, the structural use of sequence emerges; meaning takes shape through the juxtaposition of successive photographs that record minimal variations, such as the slow advance of a shadow. Alongside this dialogue on Spanish territory, the exhibition path opens up to the works of Vanessa Winship, depicting the icy and desolate winter of the American Midwest. The exhibition concludes with photographs by Takashi Homma, featuring works ranging from the series New Wave (2000–ongoing), in which the seascape is reinterpreted through apparently “non-decisive” moments, to Mushrooms from the Forest (2011), created in the woods surrounding the Fukushima power plant.

The project thus takes shape as an investigation into landscape, both urban and rural, and the transformations that run through it. The selection of works on display invites viewers to observe places as registers of time and memory, where each photograph becomes a testament to human passage and the slow evolution of the world.
