Milan Unit by Ramak Fazel | Exhibition at MAXXI Roma
Viasaterna is pleased to announce the exhibition Milan Unit 1994–2009 by Ramak Fazel at MAXXI - Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI secolo, curated by Simona Antonacci with Maria Delpriori, from May 29 to September 27, 2026.
Years of images, notes and materials in a single installation, offering an insider’s view of Milanese design and the transition from analogue to digital photography.
Milan Unit is an archive-work that brings together Ramak Fazel’s entire photographic and documentary production between 1994 and 2009, during and beyond his years in the Italian design and architecture scene.
Negatives, slides, prints, publications, notes, documents and work tools make up a concrete account of his working method and a crucial moment in photography, that between analogue and digital.
At the centre are themes such as what images show or hide, the time that transforms them, error as a significant trace, and the conditions in which images are produced, used and circulated.
