Viasaterna is pleased to participate to Paris Photo 2024 with a selection of works by Guido Guidi (Cesena, 1941) and Takashi Homma (Tokyo, 1962) in the Main Sector.
The exhibition project proposes a dialogue between the photographic works of Guido Guidi and Takashi Homma.
Through a selection focused on the theme of the trail and path, it aims to delve deeper into the research of these two masters of photography. Starting with a sequence of photographs known as “the arrow series" dedicated to Carlo Scarpa's Brion Tomb, which Guidi developed over ten years, paying particular attention to the temporal dimension and to the shift of light and shadow on the building's walls, he identifies an alphabet of motifs that are useful indications for a mystical interpretation of Scarpa's last endeavor.
Homma takes us to the apparently uncontaminated habitat of Hokkaido with the series Trails, juxtaposing man and nature through a short-circuit of beauty and violence. He uses the ground as a white sheet and the blood of animals as ink, a reference to the metalinguistic reflection that runs all over the photographer's production. Alongside Trails, a selection of works from Mushrooms from the forest will also be featured.
