Paris Photo 2025 | Marion Baruch and Elisabetta Catalano

Viasaterna is pleased to participate in Paris Photo 2025 with the works of Marion Baruch (Timisoara, 1929) and Elisabetta Catalano (Rome 1944-2015) in the Main Sector.

Tha Paris Photo 2025 project proposes a dialogue between the photographic documentation of Elisabetta Catalano (Rome 1944 - 2025) and the groundbreaking performative work of Marion Baruch (Timisoara, 1929), photographed by Gianni Berengo Gardin (Santa Margherita Ligure 1930-2025).

The selection features Catalano’s collaboration with some of the most important avant-garde artists of her time, like Fabio Mauri, Gilbert & George, Jannis Kounellis and Cesare Tacchi, who often visited her studio in Rome and staged in the 70’s their performances and happenings. In the same years Baruch questioned what is means to veil and drape the female body with her Abito Contenitore (1969) and her structure Contenitore-Ambiente (1969) a plexiglass sphere constructed big enough for a human.

The relationship between the figure and its surroundings is one of the core themes in the photographic reproduction of the performances of this renowned artist, showcased in our booth, and captured by the eye of Catalano and Berengo Gardin.
