Takashi Homma
M+Trails

MAST Foundation promotes the “V Biennal of Photography on Industry and Work” and invites 10 international artists to exhibit in 10 spaces in the City of Bologna.

Inside the L'Esprit Nouveau Pavilion, Takashi Homma’s works dialogue with the architectonical space, in an articulate solo exhibition entitled M+Trails, curated by Francesco Zanot and open from 14 October until 28 November.

Since the beginning of his career, Takashi Homma has been focusing on the relationship between mankind and nature, documenting both the happiest and most glorious outcomes and the most dramatic ones. This exhibition, conceived for the Pavilion designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, combines two projects created by the Japanese photographer over a large period of time, from 2000 to 2018. The M series collects and compares the differencies and the similarities between the facades of McDonald’s stores from different parts of the world, reflecting on the standardization of the food itself and opposing the speed of consumption to the slowness of research.  The Trails photographic project, instead, portrays the traces of blood left by some deer hunters in the mountains of Hokkaido: images whose cruel elegance recalls traditional calligraphy and give the sacrifice of the animal a central role.
