For Volvo Studio Milan, Martina Corà created a site-specific installation, a set up in different spaces, touching the boundaries between arts and technology.
In Crescendo stems from a focus on music and in particular on the gestures of orchestra conductors.
On display there will be the video In Crescendo, created thanks to a software programmed by the artist, capable of recording the hand movements of Giovanni Pavesi while conducting an ensemble: it maps his gestures while the trace, the drawing and the virtual model, made of continuous and fluid lines, appear on the screen.
By pausing the video and capturing a few frames, the artist takes inspiration for the creation of a sinuous and light sculpture, made with 3D printing. The chromatic matrix of the frames is further investigated by Corà, who expands it by creating five digital prints and a large curtain with an abstract character that embraces and transforms the Volvo Studio space.
Project presentation together with the artist and Marta Cereda
Wednesday February 22nd 7pm at Volvo Studio Milan (Viale della Liberazione corner Via Melchiorre Gioia)
