Barbara De Ponti
Milan, 1975. Lives and works in Milan.

After graduating in Painting and a master's degree in Art Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera in Milan, she became interested in the relationships between artistic practice and geographical knowledge, using her research archives and extensive studies of historical and scientific character. In 2009 she created Planning Constellation, 45th 28' N, 9th 12' E, a project of geographical stratification, cultural anthropology and architecture of the city of Milan and Speaking Thinks. In 2010 she collaborated with the Planetarium Hoepli in Milan for the realization of The Natural Light of the Stars, winner of LED Award. In 2011 she was invited by the Polytechnic of Milan to present the performance Mantero_Op. cit. 2011 and in 2014 public Isolario (Ed. Postmediabooks) the result of a research work curated by Alessandro Castiglioni and with contributions by Marzotto Caotorta, Elio Franzini and Ermanno Cristini. The results of a research at the Capitoline Archive and the collaboration with the architect Antonio Stella Richter are the sources of To Identity, an installation produced in 2015 by the House of Architecture in Rome at the former Roman Aquarium. Hosted by the International Museum of Ceramics, the Carlo Zauli Museum, the Museum of Natural Sciences of Faenza, Clay Time Code presented in Viasaterna in 2018. Alpina is her latest project, questioning the boundaries among spaces and matter, in collaboration with the artist Fabio Marullo and coordinated by Alessandro Castiglioni.
